· Following a breakdown in negotiations over costs, the UK Border Agency said it would no longer pay Glasgow City Council to house asylum seekers, causing significant upheaval and uncertainty for some of Scotland ’s most vulnerable people. UKBA have now written to 600 households, telling them that they will be given 3 to 5 days’ notice to move "whenever possible" and can take only two pieces of luggage per person, plus baby equipment, children’s toys and disability aids.
